About Me

I’m Alex P. If you want to know more about my professional life, you can check my LinkedIn profile. If you like to talk about Databases and Distributed Systems, you can follow me on Twitter.

When I’m not working on databases, I like tinkering with electronics together with my daughter. It started with a blinking light, but over the years, this hobby has developed into learning CAD software, 3D printing large structures, post-processing plastics, designing PCBs, and debugging hardware issues, like going into the rabbit hole of finding out why the first pixel of W2812b does not like it when you enable WiFi on ESP32.

Mountain range

A 180x80cm minimalistic light sculpture of a silhouette of the mountain range. 3D-printed PLA.

I spend quite of bit of time on my computer, and have to type quite a lot. In 2021, I picked up a hobby of assembling split keyboards to release some of the pressure from my shoulders and wrists.

When computers refuse to listen to me I like to go outside and unwind. Living right next to the Alps allows me to be able to jump on the train, hike up the mountain, and enjoy the view.
